Oh haha. I like all the the super random backstory/histories that Silmarillion has, but I can see how other people would feel like they have to slog through it. *shrugs* I have weird tastes. 🙂

I can’t make super accurate judgement of the LoTR movies, since only I’ve seen each of them once, and each time I was only half-ish paying attention. I’m just not a huge fan of movies in general haha. Anyways, I definitely like the books better, but maybe if I watched the movies again I’d have a little more appreciation for them. As for the Hobbit movies, I’ve seen the first one. The second I think my family just never bothered to watch, and the third…well… I have friend who is always very eager to tell me what an abomination to the earth the third Hobbit movie is, so I’ve never felt super inclined to watch it.

Oh yes! Beren and Luthien is better than the Silmarillion in my opinion. But in case you don’t trust my taste anymore, I will reassure you with the fact that Beren and Luthien is mostly poems, not random dates and histories.
