Over the course of writing a few books that could be classified as Horror, I noticed that while I write books that are thrilling and unnerving, I always seem to add an element of learning and pacifying to them. After the the ghosts and demons get what they came for, they are peaceful.
It’s an interesting thing to notice patterns and theme in your work, especially as a panster who dives headfirst into a draft with little more than a plot twist and a handful of character arcs. I’m looking for feedback, positive or negative.
Is my work really considered horror?
Am I reusing the same ideas by making the theme or arc the same as another one of my books?
Does it matter to readers if I do always make the ending somewhat happy or calm? If so then how much does it matter?
Does or should my horror include a truly evil, unredeemable antagonist?
