When a tornado overturns a rural middle school’s track bus, the three kids left inside are thrown into the East Texas wilderness with only the clothes on their backs. The three struggle to survive while battling their own flawed instincts and insecurities–Wyatt longs for love and attention after years of neglect, Theo’s tormented by mental instability and episodes of uncontrollable violence, and Sadie’s too shy to say more than a few words at a time. They’ll trek through the city and the countryside to get back to Harrisford–that is, if they can get out of the woods alive.
