Great post! I just recently got a short story professionally edited by Jane Maree, in part because I was curious, and in part because I had no idea where to start with any kind of editing. While I did try to do as much editing as possible before sending it in, it was in pretty rough shape when I gave it to her. But having a professional editor was one of the most educational and eye-opening experiences for my writing. I highly recommend it to anyone, if only for the learning you get by having someone else walk you through the process, show you your weaknesses, and map out a plan of action for editing that you can use on any of your stories.
