Hello!
Would anyone like to critique my poem? I’d love the help! Any suggestions are great. There’s something not quite right about it, but I like the idea.
Unfinished Letters
There is a tea stain on my desk,
and a letter never sent.
A sentence or two of black ink
but nothing between the lines.
“Hello, how have you been?
“I’ve missed you,
“I’m sorry.”
Not yet has my pen flowed with ink
that comes from my heart.
There is mascara on her cheek
and water in her eyes.
A sentence or two flow through my lips
but don’t flow through my heart:
“I’m here for you,
“I’m sorry.
“Let me know how I can help.”
I wish I could say it truly,
but I feel empty inside.
There is a silence in my soul
and this time there are no words.
No sentences flow through the silence
but now I hear
my heart is crying.
There are fingers on my keyboard
and black pixels on the page.
I’m beginning to see the point
“There is a tea stain
“on my desk,”
“There is mascara
“on her cheek.”
“There is a silence
“in my soul.”
and that is all I need to say.
The Lord speaks through the quiet
when I have no words.
