Okay, prepare for a long post.

Most of my favorite book characters are similar. Here is a list of them.

    Kalmar Wingfeather – Wingfeather Saga

Waxillum Ladrian – Mistborn the Wax and Wayne series

Wayne – Mistborn the Wax and Wayne series

Steris – Mistborn the Wax and Wayne series (yes, I know there should only be one from that series, but I need all of them)

    Will Treaty – Ranger’s Apprentice

    Kaladin Stormblessed – Stormlight Archive

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III- How to Train Your Dragon (books)

Others I suddenly forgot – thousands of books I’ve read

Okay, now to why I like them.

There is this quote from the book I actually finished reading right before I came onto SE today. “The most dangerous kind of man is not the one who spent his youth shoving others around. That kind of man gets lazy, and is often too content with his life to be truly dangerous. The man who spent his youth being shoved around, however … When that man gets a little power and authority, he often uses it to become a tyrant on par with the worst warlords in history.” (This is from Brandon Sanderson’s The Rithmatist by the way) I think it sumerizes what I like about many of the characters above very well, because we are all the most dangerous types of “men” (meaning humans as I am a girl).

Let me explain. I am not a power obsessed tyrant on par with the worst warlords in history, and neither are my favorites. However, I do have a tendency to be a little to prideful and hurtful on occasion if I finally know what I’m talking about and I realize I’m the smartest one in the room (I’m just being honest here). Kalmar, Wax, Will, Kaladin, and maybe Hiccup  all have this in common with both me and each other which is likely what binds me to them. There are other reasons special to each character, but I don’t think I need to go into those.

As for Wayne, he just makes me smile and cry. I understand him, and I love him. But, it’s more like finding my best friend in a book with Wayne than finding myself.

Steris is like me. We are both smart in ways that others don’t understand. We have anyalitical minds and are aware of our own limitations (part of what leads to my pride is that I’m right and I know it). We both have no skill for improvisation, but understand and admire it anyway. Steris is like the side of me that people rarely see.

    Does that answer your question?
