@eden-anderson I know exactly what you mean. It’s hard to find a logical balance between relying on the people around you for encouragement and support and pressing on without it, especially when you’re emotionally involved.
All my life I’ve tended to take things too personally, so reminding myself that perceived ‘neglect’ from others probably isn’t meant as disdain is something I’ve had to work on. It may simply be that they’re happy for you to have your cool hobby but they don’t see anything special about it at all— like you or I might be marginally impressed but totally uninterested if someone told us they farmed pigs for a living. 😛
I’ve had to come to grips with the fact that I will always be sensitive and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, so long as I don’t let it rule my actions or reactions. Easily hurt, but not easily offended is kind of my motto for people’s opinions, especially as regards my writing. It’s not bad to feel hurt (even though it might be unnecessary), as long as you don’t let it morph into offense. Then nobody’s happy, least of all you. 😉
This has been Kate’s mini-sermon of the day. *salutes* May the Force be with you. XD
