@j-a-penrose Whew! I am so late! Sorry about that. December didn’t let me check my email, and now I still have a lot of emails to go through. I’ll catch up eventually! šŸ˜›

    1. What are three things you know about characters?

-I know that the main character should start the story in one way and end in another.Ā (like in Cars, or A Christmas Carol)

-I know that a character should really want something, and should be chasing that thing throughout the entire story.

-I know that you need to know your characters, but not on the ‘what’s his favorite color and what do his eyes look like’ level. There are a few questions that you should ask, and those are the important ones. I watched a video with questions recently… let me see if I can find it… Here! This is episode one of her series. Seriously, it’s awesome. 😉

What are three things you’d like to know about characters?

-How to give them distinct enough personalities that I don’t accidentily start having some personalities bleed into others, but not so over the top that they’re annoying and unrealistic.

-How to write theirĀ change! I am having so much trouble trying to write their change of mentality and attitudeĀ (learning their truth) without being too much of the old still, but also not too much of the new too fast.

-Honestly, I would also like to know how to incorporate physical appearances into the story. I’m much better than I used to be at it and don’t just merely rattle off a list of what they look like. But it’s still difficult.

What do you believe the crafting of character has to do with powerful writing?

The character is the center of the theme. It’s the entire story’s axis which is spins on. Their change is what brings out the theme. Their lesson is from where the reader learns. The character is also the role model for the reader. You’ve got to make them a good character and a good role model.Ā (Literally, I do pick up on habits or attitudes that my favorite characters do/have)

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being appalling, 10 being stunning) how well do you think you write characters?

*first thing that comes to mind*

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your pain?

    Shhhhh brain, that’s not related!

I hate rating myself. I really don’t want to be prideful, but I also want to recognize how good my writing is? Which is a bad mix? 😂 Okay, I’ll try.

I’m going to say on a scale of 5-8. It seriously depends on the character I’m writing. If they’re really different from me, it’s hard, but if they’re just like me, it can be a lot easier to get into their head.
