Malvat hoped he’d fallen in a pit of lava.

“Well,” he rumbled, keeping his voice sympathetic but business-like, “it seems we have lost another. However, I don’t intend to be meat for this place next. We should move. ” He gestured at the cages, the nearest one containing something that looked like a griffin that had had growing pains too much as a child. “What door should we choose?”
