Hey @professorsjb! I’m kind of a NaNo veteran, but also kind of not (maybe it’s just in my own mind that I’m not, I don’t know). I did NaNoWriMo for the first time last year and won my goal of 20,000 words (for the Rooglewood contest), but didn’t complete the actual story I was working on (it was a huge mess since I didn’t know my story very well). So, considering that, my advice would be to know your story! Even if you’re not a plotter, at least have an idea of where you want to go; have an idea of how the story is supposed to end. And outline would be very helpful. Also, word wars are good. And so’s a brainstorming buddy to bounce ideas off of when you’re not writing.
