I love Ophelia and Athena already (Ophelia especially)!

Pushing away my feeling of dread, I picked up How to Manipulate Humans for Dummies since I saw nothing else to do. As I flipped through the pages, my feeling of dread returned bringing disgust with it. Though I couldn’t say that I was innocent of manipulating others, I always kept in mind that they were people, not animals, unlike the book that I was reading.

“Oh, hello! I’m sorry if we’re not supposed to be here, the door was open. I like your costume!” a cheery voice beside me said.

“Bonum scuti!” I exclaimed in a voice that was two octaves higher than the average male’s. I whirled around and found a girl that looked as cheery as her voice standing next to me.

“Did I scare you?” she asked.

Trying to regain the dignity I had so recently lost, I smiled stiffly and bowed. “Y-yes, you d-did startle me,” I said, clenching my fists as I heard myself stutter. I breathed deeply. “And I’m n-not the owner of this…establishment.”

I studied the girl. She was rather tall with a naive air about her. She was an honest person. I could trust that she would always tell the truth even if it wasn’t called for.

“I’m Ophelia,” she said extending her hand.

I glanced at her hand, uncertain of what I was supposed to do. I decided to ignore it. “I’m Conroy Flinston. A pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
