I’ll go ahead and drop Conroy into the castle.
CONROY
Khalon shoved me against the wall. I slumped to floor, gasping for the air that had been knocked out of me. Khalon loomed over me and slapped my face before turning on his heel and striding away. His gesture was clear. I was not worth his time. I struggled to my feet, my hand against my face. Why couldn’t I just keep my mouth shut? My life would be much less painful if I did. I took in one last deep breath, attempting to clear my fuzzy head. I leaned my head against the wall, but there was no wall behind me.
“Wha-,” I sputtered as stumbled backwards. The floor seemed to slant up, sliding me further into the darkness. Flashes of light sped by me. I flailed my arms, grasping desperately for anything solid. The back of my hand slammed against a smooth, hard surface. I hissed, cradling my hand when I realized that I was now in a large room. A library (what better place to start an adventure than in a library XD). I stared in amazement. “H-how?” I was all that I could manage to say. I slowly walked towards one bookshelf. I found myself growing more and more amused as I read the titles: Being an Evil Castle 101, How to Manipulate Humans for Dummies, The Art of Being Intimidating, and How to Push a Person’s Buttons.
“What s-sort of place is this?” I murmured to myself. Despite the room’s bright colors, I had a dark feeling that there was a sinister presence lurking in the stone walls.
