Awesome job, everyone! *feels bad because I didn’t actually do much (aka anything)* It turned out great though, despite that. Or maybe because of it. *eyes self*
Anyway, a question for next time, @princess-foo. I wondered what you thought of switching back to one writer and then all the others brainstorm and edit.
Two reasons for this. One of them is because (so long as there is someone to write) I feel like the writing process would go easier. We’ve experimented with several writers the last few times but I wonder if it might not make it harder, because different people have different visions, and then whole chunks of someone else’s work get trashed because a new writer comes in. I know working with other writers is hard for me, simply because I don’t want to overrule them with my own ideas, but I’m also supposed to be writing my own ideas… and it makes it confusing. I just wonder if it might not be simpler for one writer.
The other reason might be even larger. We’re getting some cool stories out of this. And, even if/when they don’t win, we could possibly do something with them. With several authors, that would be hard. But what at least one other guild is doing is that, whoever the main author is, they retain the ‘rights’ to the story in a sense. So after the contest, they get to keep it and maybe polish it up and put it on their blog or some such. Which I personally think is cool because not only does this make it fun, but whoever is putting the most effort in also gets to have a story of their own to show for it and everyone gets a chance to pitch it, practice brainstorming, editing, etc.
Anyway… thoughts, guys? Or interested in giving it a trial the next time or two and seeing how it goes?
