I’ve been friends with Burn for … three? Four? Years now. I’m sure I’ll believe it.

“But I was getting water from a steam near the site I was working on.”

“and the next thing I know, I’m in a cave with all these guys.”

Pit opened unexpectedly. Pretty believable, happens to the best of us.

“After a little bit of work, we all got back to the surface and, well, got here.”

The only unbelievable part so far – a ‘little bit’ of work.

“Quite frankly, I don’t know if I’m dreaming or not but it’s just all too weird.”

Really?

Okay. Okay take a deep breath. If this is Caleb’s first encounter with a Burn-type person, it is quite believable that his life is so abysmally boring.

“Yes…” Nathair said. “And we should probably leave this area soon before the authorities come.”

After listening to Ax-Punk’s abysmal explanation of our adventures, I practically face-palm.

“Search, listen this punk has no idea what he’s talking about …

“Actually, Snake-Punk has a good point. Let’s do that first.”

I am already moving – Oscar isn’t here to post bail after all – but Search (of course) has her hand firmly twisted in my jacket.

Argh.

“Come on Search! We need to get moving!”

“I know.” She deadpans. Then, “Where can we go? Oh, is there a good restaurant near here?”

And there she goes, thinking with her stomach again. I swear punk, you have an endless pit in you!
