Okay. Poets are supposed to be regal and mysterious (*coughnotreallycough*), so sorry about that. xD

Anyway…

So! After reading up on everyone’s posts, I’ve deducted that there is likely… not much more advice that I can offer. xD Plus I’m actually a beginner myself hhhh and they pointed out a lot of stuff that I actually didn’t know myself, but I still would absolutely offer any help I can. <3 The only thing I can really say is, yes, read lots of poetry. As much as you can find. Buy books. Google poets. Etc. etc. etc. And, yes, show your work – even if you’re scared of being embarrassed, haha xDD Even when I felt like my poetry wasn’t really that good, people still loved it and I was completely amazed. And even if they don’t, do NOT get discouraged. It stunts growth. (:

The best poetry is written from the heart. There is a poetry quote that I can’t think of word for word at the moment, but the gist is this: “If you have to choose between writing clever poetry [meaning full of alliteration and similes and metaphors and whatnot] and honest poetry, choose honest.”

Length doesn’t equate beauty or meaning. One of my favorite poems in the world is actually in my signature: “Forecast” by Luci Shaw.

Rain.

And that’s it. xD But it is beautiful and near and dear to my heart. In fact, most of my favorite poems aren’t long at all.

And… don’t get discouraged. (: Your words are beautiful. I already know because y’all are beautiful people. <3
