So it’s a little over 100 words and probably too character-focused. I think I found why I struggle with this. xD Will try for critiques tomorrow or Thursday–traveling two states away for my college graduation on Friday makes this week a bit hectic.

Neither industrial grunge nor coffee shops were Caren’s thing, but the others had invited her, and she wasn’t going to pass that up. She had to admit, it wasn’t half bad—airier than she’d expected, despite the earthy color scheme doing its best to match the pervasive coffee aroma. The sunlight pouring in reflected off the pale floor, obstructing vision at first but lightening the place tremendously. Blinking, the group wove their way to the largest coffee-colored table and draped their jackets over the spindle-back chairs, Brenna almost instantly beelining toward the dark wall of chalk designs. “I have got to Instagram those…get me a caramel macchiato, would you?” she tossed over her shoulder at Caren. A what now? Caren stared up at the handwritten menu in confusion. Not even the bulbs dangling like fairy lights from the exposed ceiling could shed light on this strange new language.
