Activity

I’m running. Running down the hallways, the wind at my heels until I reach it. The large set of wooden doors has a gleaming plague over it. New Wessex, it reads.

This is the right place.

I push open the door. Inside, all is quiet. A fire crackles from a cosy fireplace inside, its heat enveloping me in sudden warmth. There are people sitting in high-backed chairs, talking softly. There’s a feeling in the air that seems to cloak me – something fluttery. Something warm. Something like… love.

And there – I see it. My chair. It’s got feathers carved into its arms, and a think blanket is draped over it.

I let a small smile touch my lips. “What did I miss?”
