Hmm, I’m not really that consistent with plotting. I always plot in my head, and I have a great memory for stories and characters so writing stuff down is usually more about organising than remembering for me. I used to always write a vague outline before I started writing, and then add details as I went.
I tried plotting in great detail, but I find that kills the joy of writing the first draft. I prefer to write a detailed plot between the first and second drafts.
Recently, though, I’ve started writing without planning. Sharpened Blade, the project I’ve been going on about for a while, was originally just meant to be a scene I wrote for fun, and accidentally turned into a 130,000 word novel with no plan except the one in my mind.
So I’m not a panster, because I make very detailed plots in my head, but I’m not sure I count as a plotter either when I don’t write them in any detail until after the second draft. I’m a hybrid 😛
