Everyone’s characters sound really interesting!

I’ll pick Suri, the MC and one of the narrators of my story Sharpened Blade. She’s human but lives in a dark-elven city -and is actually a spy for the light-elves. She’s generally sweet and doesn’t like to hurt other people, so she hates being a spy but (for reasons I’ll not go into here) feels she has no choice. She’s also very sociable and her people skills make her good at spying, better than she wants to be.

Hers is a positive arc. At the beginning she derives her sense of self-worth from the affirmation of the people closest to her, but she learns to be emotionally independent and have some confidence in her own abilities.

My second character is Kito, Suri’s little brother and another narrator. He’s a morally grey character (anti-hero? Anti-villain? I’m not sure). He was cursed with a magical power he can’t control. While he lived with other humans he was persecuted for it and Suri was the only one who stood by him until they eventually ran away together. When the dark-elves gave them sanctuary Kito thought he was safe, but actually a lot of them recognise the potential of his powers and want to use or manipulate him for their own ends.

He has a negative arc, starting off fearful but gradually growing bitter and revengeful. It’s my first time writing a POV character with a negative arc, so that’s fun.
