@steward-of-the-pen First of all, know that we’re here to support you, and know that I’ll be praying for you! <3
Second of all, I’ve been going through something similar. Ever since NaNo I’ve been stuck. I just couldn’t seem to find something to write and I just felt so drained. So I took a short break and stepped back, and for a month, didn’t write unless I felt like it. I know that goes against everything everyone says about writer’s block, but for me, I just needed to detach myself. There’s a difference from “writer’s block” where you’re merely procrastinating and this, when you’re forcing yourself to the point where it’s draining, emotionally, mentally, and physically. If you’re like me, I’d suggest to give yourself some room and not stress out over writing. Put it away for a week and go off and just live life. Relax, pray, go play a game, bake a cake, go outside, find some other outlet for a week or two, maybe even three. Time to recharge and cool off. And then come back and just start writing. Don’t plan, just write your thoughts out and see where it goes.
I usually question the motive behind my writing twice a year. 😛 It comes with a month of depression and loneliness. I feel like a failure because of all the time “wasted” into a project. Into what I mistake my identity as; my life as. For some reason, poetry always reminds me though why I write. I write to speak to people’s hearts and show the beauty of the world and of truth. 🙂
So, overall, I’d suggest a break, to destress, and then, as always, write what you’re passionate about. Whether it be a style of writing, a story, a thought, or a character.
Again, I’ll be praying! <3
