@steward-of-the-pen Hey! I actually know a deaf man and am fairly fluent in ASL!

Off the bat, I would suggest for you to take a class in ASL to understand it better… how they will leave out certain words… how they give each people they know ASL names… but then you mentioned he is a wolf (of course 😉 ) and so I’m not sure what to suggest now.

I do know that the deaf man who I know is able to feel vibrations… for example just a couple days ago he visited and was able to feel the vibrations as my brother played a drum. Another thing I’ve noticed about a deaf community is how they solve the problem of getting someone’s attention…. because you can’t sign to someone who isn’t looking, a deaf person with usually thumps the table to draw attention that he wants to speak and then sign. Also deaf people will unconsciously grunt and make such noises – or at least the deaf people I know. So being around a deaf person isn’t really a deathly quiet experience as I used to think before I met this man.

Since @raemarie probably know way more about this than I…. she might want to check me on all this, since I have met only one deaf person. 🙂
