I was a little shocked at how fast you typed that until I read the last bit of your post. XD
Thank you so much for what you wrote last night, that absolutely thrilled me to read everything you wrote because I wholeheartedly agree with it. It encourages me so much when I find young people who believe what you believe, and even more when I find guys who believe strongly like you do. It seems I meet a lot more girls who are solid than guys. So, anyway, I was super encouraged by all that you wrote… and scratching my head trying to remember if you said you were 16 because you said you run a martial arts school.
Aww, I have to credit anything that I say to how God has taught me through the years through beneficial worldview study and the wisdom of my parents. A lot of what I said came from listening to worldview programs and from my dad.
Well, I have two answers from your last post. First of all, I have to agree with @wordsmith that I don’t believe that socialism is Biblical. As he pointed out, the Bible talks a lot about ownership. Then if you just stop to think about it, I am horrified by the thought of the government owning all and giving what it will. Socialism does not make everyone equally prosperous, it makes everyone equally poor. Absolute power absolutely corrupts. I don’t believe that socialism will ever work for several reasons.
1. It is a very flawed and dangerous system. Begun by Karl Marx, and manifested by men who made it their goal to destroy Christianity. History has proven it to be deadly and evil.
2. Do we want the government to have that much power to define what we need and what we don’t? Isn’t this getting rather close to asking the government to define right and wrong? Perhaps this is why communism hates God, because they don’t want any authority to define good and bad. God has given us his law in his word, and I firmly believe that our government is going bad because it does not fear God and does not use his word to define truth in this country.
3. America is the freest country this world has ever seen. Why would we trade it so quickly for what has destroyed countries every time?
Whether socialism is a moral issue or not, our politics in America are hopelessly entangled with morality. The government is legalizing murder (abortion), immorality, and is steadily celebrating what God hates more and more. In our government, morality is absolutely a part of our politics.
Then moving on to your last point, it is not the laws that we should depend on to change our country. Some laws have me wondering how long God will tolerate them. God destroyed Sodom for the very sins that our country is glorifying. Laws that allow utter defiance of God’s law should be destroyed, yet there is truth in what you said. It ultimately is not the laws that will change our country. It is the hearts.
The changing of the tide in a nation is when the hearts are changed. If our hearts were turned towards God, some of these issues would not even exist. Our hearts have turned away from God, and more and more we take the easy path and live like the world. Some people claim the name of Christ, yet they believe that we can accept homosexuality, which God makes very clear in his word that he hates.
Our culture will only change when we fall to our knees, and beg God to have mercy on our country because we have shamelessly defied him, broken his law, and not feared him, for he is a holy and righteous God. We must repent and turn back to his word. This is what will change the problems in our culture, and it is what I pray will happen.
