Favorite Books/Authors | My favorite fantasy writers are: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Anne Elisabeth Stengl, Wayne Thomas Batson, Christopher Hopper, and John Flanagan. Other books that I love are: the "Temeraire" series by Naomi Novik, "The Organic God" by Margaret Feinberg, "The Hawk and the Dove" by Penelope Wilcock, "Are There Horses in Heaven?" by Mary Lou Davis, "Roanoak: The Lost Colony" by Angela Hunt, and the devotion book "Heavenly Horse Sense" by Rebecca Ondov. I also genuinely enjoy Shakespeare! I LOVE to talk about books and am always looking for new things to read, so if you have a favorite book that I absolutely must read, please tell me about it and I will gab about books for hours with you! |
Genres I Write In | Mostly fantasy. Every so often I'll write a devotion (mostly drawing from life lessons I've learned from working with horses), and I also like to blur genres a bit and mix fantasy and reality in wacky stream-of-consciousness musings. |
Premise of Current Novel | My WIP: Courier’s Tale Generations ago, a terrible plague wiped out almost all animal life, including horses and livestock. To make up for the loss, humans began enslaving each other. Now, the lie that slaves are not human has been accepted as truth, both by slaves and masters alike. The slaves – “couriers” – even speak a different language. Humans speak with their mouths and the vibrations of their chest and throat; couriers can only speak with their hands. When you’re so firmly entrenched in a lie – when the lie is your life, your world, your very identity – what do you do when that lie is threatened? What do you do when you’re forced to chose between the human girl who loves you and the life that you have always known? River, the fastest courier in the realm, has no answers for those questions. But the time has come to choose a side. And the choices he makes will have repercussions far beyond anything he could possibly know. |
