Logan waited expectantly as the girl’s eyelashes fluttered uncertainly. Finally her eyes opened, then blinked hard. He stood up to block the light and her eyes focused on his face. She stared for a moment as her eyes adjusted.

“You!” she gasped, trying to get up. Her face paled with pain and she sank back down again. Her eyes flashed with anger as they looked up into his, “What are you doing here?”

Logan knelt quickly down again. She was going to hurt ankle more if she tried standing up right now. He laid a hand on her shoulder, “Don’t try to get up yet; your ankle’s broken. How do you feel? Does it hurt anywhere else?” he asked quietly, ignoring her question.
