@katthewriter @dakota (Sorry I took so long and that my post is so long XD)
Anton urged Negro to go faster, but it was no use. Negro was too tired. The only chance of stopping this mess was if Arlin could get on top of Me’swen to calm him down.
From his vantage point in the tree, Arlin saw the herd. He noted that the herd consisted of ten horses in all, and he recognized the lead stallion. There could be no mistaking that caramel coat and golden mane. It was Me’swen. Arlin also saw that Anton rode Negro to the side of the stampede in an attempt to catch up with Me’swen. Negro’s black coat glistened with sweat from the exertion. Arlin knew they wouldn’t be able to catch Me’swen. It was just their luck that Me’swen would come across some wild horses and stir up trouble. At least they were headed this way. Except that they were also headed towards the only civilians in the forest. “Just my luck.” Arlin mumbled sourly as he got into position. He cast a backward glance at the two civilians to see that the man had taken a position in front of the girl. His stance made it look like he was going to try and stop the stampede by confronting the lead runner.
Arlin thought it a foolish decision since the duo should have enough time to get out of the way before the stampede got there. It was unnecessary to try and solve a problem this dangerous especially since it didn’t have to impact them. “Enough of that.” He mentally scolded himself. “Focus.” Me’swen was getting closer and it was fixing to be time to jump. Arlin felt his muscles tense. Was he nervous? It’d been a while since he felt nervous. Of course, this was a silly thing to be nervous about. He had hit faster-moving objects from further away, granted he had never had to hit a stampeding horse with himself, but the idea was the same, right? No, he wasn’t nervous. He didn’t nervous or scared anymore. It must have been his imagination. He thought as he leapt.
As Anton raced through the woods and after the stampede, he spotted two civilians directly in the stampede’s path. “Oh no.” He thought frantically. There was nothing he could do to stop the stampede now. Why did he have to have such a troublesome horse!?! A second later, Anton saw Arlin leap from a tree and land gracefully on Me’swen.
Arlin grabbed the horn of the saddle and parts of Me’swen’s mane to steady himself. He crouched atop the saddle, regaining his balance before slipping into the saddle. Me’swen’s momentarily turned his head to see who had landed. At first, he seemed irritated, but then he seemed pleased. Not that Arlin could truly say how the horse was feeling because after all, Me’swen was a horse and Arlin can’t read minds. However, Arlin could tell that Me’swen wasn’t stampeding. He was just galloping because he could.
“Enough of that, Me’swen.” Arlin chided as he gently began pulling back on the reigns.
A few moments after Arlin landed on Me’swen, Anton saw the herd begin to slow down. Anton rolled his eyes. Of course Me’swen would behave for Arlin. The two got along swimmingly.
(Something to note is that Me’swen is an intelligent horse although he is mischievous. He spooked a herd of wild horses and that’s why they are stampeding, but Me’swen ran off just to irritate Anton. (Well, that’s only half true, but the other half is an idea that hasn’t quite worded itself properly yet.) I don’t know a ton about horses so feel free to correct me if anything is inaccurate (just please try to correct me nicely. I have had some bad experiences with people being mean while correcting my writing so I’m still a bit overly sensitive), but I think I wrote everything okay-ish.)
