Ahhh, forgive me, good Sir…and gentle Madam, but because of circumstances beyond my control I was unable to participate in this. (actually it was just procrastination…) With the deepest regret I speak these words to you and ask humbly for thy pardon.

*begins to weep*

I’m so utterly mortified that I gave my word to join you…but did not keep it. Oh, it is quite humiliating! I’m sure my character is now completely ruined…none shall ever trust me again.
