You did a great job with this poem!
I thought the answer could be the Cross/salvation because of the references to being lifted up in the first stanza. The lines “Arresting spirit at its birth/It promises a brand-new start” also made me think of how we are reborn spiritually when we are saved through Christ’s death on the cross.
I wasn’t sure about lines 14-15 because they say that hope/love “hides and wait ’til one is found/Who needs the power it affords.” I never really thought of love and hope as being elusive or selective. Won’t they always be present in our lives whether we need them or not?
