Megyn  froze at the voice. “A stampede!?” she thought “There’s no way a stampede could run through this thick of –”

Ta-dum, Ta-dum TA-dum. Hoofbeats. Megyn knew that sound by heart, memorized from the hours spent sitting Mr. Roberson fence watching his horses.

A thrill of excitement raced through her. “Calm.” She whispered to herself. “Stay calm.” Wheeling, she faced the fast-approaching sound.
