@skredder Yeah, I kinda got that sense about him ๐ I liked him a lot. He seems playful and joyful, the kind of friend you like to have around, you know? He he, my cook is the most cliche cook in the book, so I’m fighting that battle too! You know, sometimes I think a little cliche never hurt anyone, just as long as it’s on purpose and it doesn’t become a blind habit. Know the rules, onlyย then can you know how and when to break them. ๐
For the darger, just say that! If you introduce it as a ‘mongoose-like’ creature, or just stop long enough to give it a little more of a physical description, maybe that will help?
Mm…are her food stores out in the hall? You could try adding that to her dialogue. When she tells them to shut the door, maybe add something about keeping it’s damage contained. Or perhaps, just add more emotion to her character when we first see her, clue the reader in that she’s upset with the darger rather than just frustrated that she can’t catch it. Um, or maybe you could use words with more negative connotation earlier on, such as ‘pest’ or whatnot, but sooner in the story. Not sure if any of those help, but maybe one will.
No problem! You’re very welcome! Happy to oblige! ๐ Thanks for sharing!!
