I can’t thank you guys enough for your kind words and prayers! I definitely felt much stronger and much more peace than I could have imagined. I’m still trying to keep up the smile and heal, but it’s been really nice to have some time alone these last few days with just me and my Heavenly Father. I know He loves me unconditionally!
Christmas went okay. Long story short, last year my mom decided to abandon our family off and on for about eight months. She came back right around Nov/Dec and we thought that was the end of it. She got into some trouble and had some health issues with it all, too. This year she was diagnosed with Stage 1 cancer and decided days before her surgery to just up and leave again. For half a day we didn’t know where she was or what was going on. Then we found out that she chose to stay with her parents for Christmas.
So, last minute I scrambled with my family to pull Christmas off for the little kids. It’s just been…emotionally difficult, to say the least. We managed to pull everything together, get everything wrapped, and curb the hard questions about why Mom chose not to spend Christmas with her family. She’s hardly spoken two words to any of us since the day she left, but we’ve been in contact with her parents, my grandparents, whom I’ve always been on excellent standing with. They’re the closest family I have besides my siblings.
I’m supposed to go pick Mom up next week and drive her home (Grandparents are bringing her halfway so neither of us have to go the full 8-9 hour drive), so I’m a little worried about how that 4-5 hours in the car is going to go. She’s not spoken a single word to be or the two kids under me in age and she’s only spoken briefly to Dad, mostly adversarial words, and I don’t know if she’s spoken to the two youngest. Either way, I’m trying really, really hard to root out the bitterness and hurt I feel toward her so that I can honor my mother and love her the way Christ loves her.
But, I can’t thank you enough for your prayers. I’ve felt far less bitter and bated the anger far quicker this time than I did last time. I’ve felt peace and strength when I didn’t know I could. So, thank you!! I hope you all had amazing Christmases this year and spent wonderful time with those you love. I am so thankful for this little group of friends. (And since I’m not taking any classes this spring, I should have more time to come back to you guys!! 😀 Yay!)
