  • Oh yeah. I totally knew what you meant. 😛

Also, GREAT THREAD TOPIC. This looks like it will be a wonderful discussion… 😀

The first person who comes to my mind is Dr. Regis Blackgaard. “But he’s in Odyssey!” you say. “It’s a kids show! He can’t be that bad!” you say.

    Oh, but he can.

They always manage to veil his darkest moments in language that will go over the heads of the most innocent youngsters, such as when he asks one of his henchmen to “take care of” a certain individual who was of no further use to him.

But what makes him so frightening?

The fact that he masterfully plays the role of the perfect and charismatic gentleman.

The fact that he truly has no one that he cares about except himself.

The fact that he knows exactly what he wants and the best way to get it.

The fact that he can mastermind some of the most heinous crimes and devious plots and yet is so untouchable by the law that he can run for the mayor of Odyssey.

This is, to me, what makes a villain the most frightening. It’s knowing that their hands are drenched in blood, but never being able to catch them red-handed. Knowing that their smile is as charming as their mind is deadly. Knowing that they can strike fear into the hearts of those that know the truth about them, but they haven’t a single fear or worry for themselves.

It’s not the villains that lurk in the shadows that frighten me; the villains that walk confident and smiling in the sunshine are the most dangerous of all.

And I might add (SPOILER WARNING) that he never was caught or convicted. The only thing that could stop him, that could scare him, was his own suffering and death, and he chose to take his own life rather than to have it taken from him.
