@rebecca-w Welcome aboard! Funny you mention the oceans, cause I’ve been mulling over what the equivalent of the kraken might look like, and here’s what I’ve come up with. I submit for general consideration and evaluation, our local kraken:

Name: Malum (Name pending- I’m, uh, not good with names guys, so if anyone has a good one by all means fire away)
Aliases: The Hateful One, Polodoris’ Foe, Sailor’s Bane
Capabilities: Originally designed as an underwater construction platform, with eight massive tentacles each ~250 ft long [someone who’s good on visualization, check on that for me please]. And the ability to withstand absurd pressures.
History/Role: Malum was originally a nameless, complacent construction facility in the Old Age. However, it was crippled one day due to a cyberattack. Unknown to any technician, a virus that was planted made its way to the intelligence core of the platform. While intended to act as a backdoor for the hackers to take control of it at their pleasure, it instead produced something different. A spark of malice was born in it, and from that day forth it has been a scourge to society even through the disaster into the present day, where it terrifies the seas and all who dwell there.
However, as powerful as Malum’s brute force is, it still harbors an even greater threat. There have been reports of mechanical dragons that have been seemingly spared by Malum only to turn hostile on all humans/sentients who come near. How this can be is unknown to society, and even among the wise there are only hunches. Due to its threat, there are several large bounties offered by various nations for the destruction of Malum.

So, part of this was inspired by the Maverick virus of the Mega Man X series, which caused ordinarily peaceful robots to go rogue. What’re you guys’ thoughts on introducing perils of the briny deep? Or the rogue-robot plot device?

P.S. Thanks @sarah-vdh for taking initiative on the google folder!
