    Basil:

“I’m not sick anymore, but that’s not going away soon,” the man said sarcastically.  “I’ll try not to inconvenience you in future.”  Basil looked at him skeptically.

“So you’re not contagious?”  He clicked his tongue.  “I mean, it’s not just me you’re inconveniencing.  When you cough all over the place like that you’re spraying your diseases all over this entire group.  Plus, we’re not from your world so basic diseases that you carry could probably kill us.”  Basil looked at him coolly.  Why do I even need to explain this?  They do have diseases in his world, right?

    Oh.

“Wait, have they discovered germs yet in your world?”  Basil softened his gaze.  “I’m sorry.  I thought you were being inconsiderate, but maybe you’re just uneducated.  You see, there’s these little organisms that – ”  Basil stiffened as a firm hand gripped his shoulder.  “Who just touched me?  Keep your hands to your-”

“I think you’ve made you point well enough.  Give the poor guy a break!”  Basil whipped around to see a tall man standing next to him, looking at him with smiling eyes.  The man laughed softly.  “For the record, I’m from the same world as you, and I’m not concerned about whatever germs he might be carrying.”  Basil’s eyes flew open.

    “What!?  How?”  The man grinned.

“I’ve seen you around The Oaks.  The coffee cake is particularly good, although personally I eat it with tea.”  Basil looked at him hesitantly.

“I like their gingerbread.  I wish they had it all year.”  He paused.  “You live in Spire, too?”  The man nodded enthusiastically.

“Sure do!  You can call me Misu, by the way.”  Basil smiled faintly.

    “I’m Basil.”

Misu grinned.  “Pleasure to meet you, Basil!  Let me guess: you got caught by the Shrike too?”

Basil narrowed his eyes. Please don’t remind me. “Yeah.”

“Ah that’s tough.”  The man in front with the scarred face suddenly stopped and turned around.  A few yards off to the distance was a blazing fire, and two small figures huddled around it.  “So lets get the introductions going shall we? What do they call ye?”  Basil tensed as the group slowly turned to face him and the other man.  His companion was silent, hands still rooted in his pockets, hair still draped over his face.  Basil sniffed.  So you’re going to make me go first, then?  Fine.

“I’m Basil.”  Misu smiled back at him.

    “And I’m Misu!”

@rose-colored-fancy Basil is so nasty sometimes.  I’m so, so sorry, he just kind of got out of control lol.  And yes, that “uneducated” remark was somehow (?) supposed to be reassuring.  In his mind being uneducated is better than being “gross and inconsiderate” so that actually wasn’t supposed to be mean (although that doesn’t matter because it is in fact a rather mean thing to say to someone)

@denali-christianson real quick, Misu’s finally turned off his glow, so he looks normal now!

@irishcelticredflowercrown here’s Basil’s answer to Lorcan’s question!  Also, I figured this is probably a good time for Misu to finally introduce himself to Lorcan lol
