@pookiemonster, If you can’t imagine not needing an editor, I’d say you’re in a good place right about now. Keep up the good work. (Also, if you want some real feedback post something on here and tag a few of us. Maybe we can pull together something more helpful!)

@cassidy How does the old song go? “Hello rewrites my old friend, I’ve come to revise you again.” Yeah no I feel that. My advice would be two-fold:

1) Have a plan going into an edit.  Don’t go into it and say “I’m gonna make it better.” Plan on something specific. “I’m going to round out this character” or “I’m going to add description to my action scenes” are much better goals. If you go in with that mindset, you’ll have an actual task to accomplish and a better idea of when you’re done.

2) YAY FINDING AN EDITOR. This is… also the stage I’m at. Or almost at. I’d say this: if fear is what’s keeping you back, you need to move forward through it. If it’s not and something else is (large plot holes, finances, time constraints) then work to address those specific things per point #1 and then find an editor. (Also, it’s really exciting that you’re at/almost at that stage. Go you!)
