…The only problem that I can really see is logical, @melancholicwriter . If the king himself has sorcery and sent them on this quest, how would the imposter get past his guard to go with them as his son? And how would the true son be with them, similarly?

@lonathecat the children are actually those of the protagonists from both previous books, and they are in their early to mostly late teens. One of them is the second protagonist’s only child and two of the other children’s cousin. There is a lot that goes into his betrayal of his father, but the gist of it is: He’s not insane and he can see the flawed logic. If he tries to point out the flawed logic his father is very much not happy and forces him to execute some of the mixed-breed prisoners before he can escape him.
