<p style=”text-align: center;”>Quick(or not-so-quick, as things may be) summary of The Warden and the Wolf King

<p style=”text-align: center;”>The Jewels suffer through a long meeting filled with pledges, and when a dissenter appears, Janner makes the most memorable, “If you will not fight for the Shining Isle, let it be known that Anniera fights for you.” After that, there is no dissent amongst their gathering, and the Jewels leave for Chimney Hill. There’s a surprise party waiting for Janner when they get home, made all the more surprising by the fact that he forgot his own thirteenth birthday’s being on that date. Guildmaster Clout, the O’Sallys, and some of their fellow Durgan guildlings are there. After a feast, Janner has to eat a total of thirteen honeymuffins, the last of which is doctored with a sleeping drug. Guildmaster Clout takes him and blindplops him, with Rudric giving Clout a sword to leave for Janner. The Wingfeathers worry for him, but they are unconcerned until Fangs invade at the Keep, nearly taking all of Ban Rona before Kalmar rallies the troops in Finley Field and faints. Janner wakes up sometime around then and reads a letter left for him by Clout, which warns that thorks are nearby, and that they don’t like light. As Janner is trying to remember thorks’ entry in the Creaturepedia, Baxter, Leeli’s dog, shows up behind him with a message from Leeli, which gives Janner a safeguard in the words ‘Find Leeli’. If said, Baxter would go to Leeli immediately. Janner sets out for the direction he believes at least a road to be in after the thorks attack, and runs into a gang of ridgerunners. Janner gets away from the ridgerunners after learning that Ban Rona was promised to have fallen by Gnag and giving the ridgerunners his dried fruit and a honeymuffin. Kalmar wakes up in a dog pen fighting over meaty bones, and meets an old Hollowswoman that tells him of how his brave actions saved Ban Rona, although fighting is still going elsewhere, away from the Keep. He determines to flee the creature he fears he is becoming and to go to Castle Throg to stop Gnag. Leeli is kidnapped by a Bat Fang in the next wave and gets free by playing her whistleharp, which the Fang calls her ‘weapon’. She is returned to the Ban Rona Library and tells Nia that she has a way to fight the Fangs. She plays her whistleharp on the roof and stops the attack. Janner runs into the ridgerunners again as they’re attacking a young troll and defends it. He gets drugged by the ridgerunners’ arrows, and sends Baxter, whom the troll had sent flying into a tree, home to Ban Rona. Maraly, Sara, Artham, and Gammon go to meet Claxton, who now is Strander King with all three pones. He kidnaps Maraly into a Strander Burrow. Kalmar runs into the ridgerunners and sends them on an impossible quest for a fake General Fithyhoop after hearing of the ‘annoying boy’ that disrupted their beheading of a troll. He goes to Janner, whom he finds leaning on the troll, who nearly kills Kalmar as a Fang before Janner stops Ood.
