@trufflehunter @steward-of-the-pen Ooh, my story is like yours, too. I grew up in a Christian home and can’t exactly remember when I got saved because I was so young. I rededicated my life to Christ several years ago and haven’t looked back since. šŸ™‚

I agree that it should have stakes (beyond the obvious stake inherent in conversion). I’m not sure life and death should be it though. I worry that it will be too easy to make it cliche if we go that route.

Yes, exactly. I had the same concern.

I have several conversions in my books. The first had to do with the character’s past and letting go of her bitterness toward God. She was literally on her knees before Him and had nowhere else to go. Another character had a direct experience with demonic powers and it frightened him so badly that he began to seek the light. The final character was saved from death by a miracle and decided to give God a chance. But when his faith was tested it didn’t last. Like the shallow-rooted plants in the Parable of the Sower, it withered away under persecution and trouble. In the last case, I suppose it wasn’t an actual conversion–but there we’re getting into some theologically controversial waters.

This is a really interesting prompt. (I accidentally misread it as “a believable conversation” šŸ˜› ) I’m excited to see what we will make of it.
