“Really, I don’t. I think you’re hurting, and you’re trying to find a way to eliminate your pain…” Jaylin trailed off.
Dharin cocked his head to one side. “Maybe you’re right. But I saw my mother, sister, and father in that mirror. I heard their voices, saying things I never heard them say. Surely that’s… that’s not…” Dharin frowned, rubbing his temples. “That can’t have been just the mirror, even if it is magical or something. My mind must be-”
Jaylin scooted closer and laid a cautious hand on Dharin’s arm. “Your mind is… it’s fine. This castle is weird, we all know that. I think… I think the mirrors take… memories or something, and they feed off of pain and anger and hate. Then, fueled by that hate and pain, they show you things.”
Dharin’s brow furrowed. “That makes sense. So what happens if someone has no hate or pain? Or if they looked into the mirror when they’re happy, not scared and hurt and sad?”
