@ariella-newheart Cool! I’m homeschooled and don’t really have tests or anything, but I did take some when I was working through chemistry last year and early this year. I hope you do/did well!

*hugs Caedon* Omw I love how brave he is 😀 I love his whole character!! And I’d love to read the story he’s from if you’d want me to :))

@elisha-starquill Heheheh that would be me, grabbing as much food as I could without letting people know I’m doing it XD I love it!!

This is gonna be really cool as they begin to realize they aren’t from the same world at all XD

Lucas ran across the room and poked his head inside the dining room.

    It was deserted.

No! No no no no no no. This is bad. What happened to them? Where’s Caedon? Is he ok?

Relax. They probably went through that other door. Go see.

Lucas took this piece of his own advice and was halfway across the room when he stopped. He darted back in the dining room and scanned the table. The chair Thesues was sitting in had been pushed back from the table. Thesues had stood up abruptly, the action pushing the chair back farther than it would have otherwise. The dagger Lucas had left on the table by Caedon’s seat was gone. And Vladlena’s chair was pushed back only far enough to stand up and leave.

So… Thesues stood quickly, presumably having proposed to go somewhere else. Then Vladlena and Caedon followed. The dagger wasn’t near enough to Vladlena for her to have taken it easily, so I can only hope that Caedon took it. Smart lad.

The basket of bread in front of Vladlena’s seat was missing more rolls than they would have eaten in one sitting, so she must have taken some. Also smart. Lucas’ lips twitched upward slightly. He grabbed some rolls and stuck them in a pocket of his coat, then buttoned the pocket. He glanced around the room once more, and saw that the cup of coffee he had been drinking was still steaming. He downed the rest of it in a gulp and wiped his hand across his mouth. His fingers danced over his jaw, feeling the three-day stubble.

I need to shave. Lucas found the thought amusing, considering the current situation. He heard a door open, and turned. A razor and bottle of shaving cream floated towards him. He laughed out loud.

“Thank you. I didn’t mean I wanted to now, but I’ll take it with me for later.” He stuffed them in another pocket, and left the dining room, closing the door behind him. He was about to reach for the other door he’d seen open a crack, and stopped.

“A map would be too much to ask for, wouldn’t it?”

Lucas was actually surprised when he heard a door open, and a bag float towards him. In the bag was not a map, but a compass. He took it out and held it flat, expecting it to point to his left; north. It pointed straight behind him. He walked around the room, eyes on the compass. It always pointed to the map table. That was cool.

    Map table. Map.

Lucas strode over and looked at the map. It wasn’t a map of the castle, but a map of Italy. Written in Italian. Very useful. Lucas sighed.

    “Thank you for the compass.”

The bag rustled in his hand, and he looked back inside. It had been empty a minute ago after he took the compass out, but now there was a flask of something warm. Lucas smelled it, and smiled. Coffee.

    “Thank you very much.”

The castle grew a bit warmer, which Lucas took to mean it was pleased. He started back over to the door, while putting the rolls in the bag with his coffee, along with other items that didn’t really belong in his pockets. Quill and inkwell (when had I gotten those?), parchments, another dagger.

Lucas pulled the door open and gasped. Trees, flowers, grass, sunshine… It looked like he had stepped outside. Which he had. But there were the walls of the castle continuing on to his left and right, and he could see in the distance a faint outline of a wall. It was a huge indoor garden.

Lucas looked down at the ground in front of him. There were three sets of footprints. And what… what was that? Lucas stooped down and poked his finger at a dark spot. Ashes? That made no sense. Why would any of them have a match lit? Lucas shook his head and stood, trying to decide what direction to go.
