@brandon @wordsmith Hey what are friends for except to tease each other, right? 😀 Or are you brothers?
I think, Brandon, you’ve hit on the reason I never liked Kili and Tauriel that much. I didn’t want it to happen, I never saw them as a couple that would work together and not just because of the height difference, so I wasn’t pleased when it did happen.
@wordsmith – That is actually very close to what I was envisioning. I don’t think it’s only about him, though. His not coming forward and saying he liked her more than a friend was part of it, because she realizes before he does that she’s interested in him, so she’s waiting to maybe see if he would. But she doesn’t really feel like there is a reason to stay in this town. She doesn’t realize before now how much it has come to mean to her, and because her foster parents kicked her out and she doesn’t technically have a real home, she was just going to move on.
Yes, there is a hidden lion in him, which I actually enjoy writing a somewhat gentler guy who still has the strong protector side. Before he realizes his affection for Felicity it usually comes out in protection and defense of Angel, the little girl with mental disabilities, or his sister, Gloria.
You don’t need to apologize at all! It’s great that you’re having fun with this – I am too. I never thought I would get so many good responses. I think I was maybe a bit afraid most other young writers had trepidation about writing romance, but it seems I was wrong and I’m so glad! I’ve gotten some really, really good writing advice and constructive criticism on this topic that I will definitely put to use. Thank you!
