I could not figure our Aydin. One second he was preventing a fight, the next he seemed ready for one, and then he was disbelieving on the point if condescending, and now he was sympathetic and either crazy or traumatized as his listening to a noise that didn’t exist proved.

“I’m sorry. It must be hard to lose an ability like that,” he muttered. His crossed his arms. I noticed that his right(?) hand was stiff. I decided not to point it out. It wasn’t my business.

“It’s not too bad, just horrible timing really,” I answered with a harsh chuckle. “My ability has gotten me into nothing but…uncomfortable situations though it can be a little helpful. For once I was glad I had it when I dropped into this place and was immediately threatened, but now it’s gone, and I’m now stuck with a horn. Oh, and sorry about the noise it made. My horn playing skills are, well, you heard me play. Do you have any special skills?”

I felt idiotic standing there trying to make conversation with a man who was a) probably dangerous  b) not comfortable with me and  c) most likely slightly crazy and traumatized. However, there was something intriguing about Aydin. Maybe my interest had something to do with the contrasts in his personality or the fact that he hadn’t threatened me.

I knew one thing for certain though, beneath all his conflicting traits, he was dangerous. I sighed. Why on earth did I have to keep running into deadly people?
