“That’s uh nice,” Khalon answered, looking unspeakably awkward.

I tried very hard to smother a laugh but it didn’t quite work.

“Oh, it’s lovely,” I said, grinning. I had spent the last six months as a prisoner in everything but name. Naturally, I was having the time of my life.

“About the academy, well it’s only for Blesseds. Those are people who have enhanced abilities. Super speed, super strength, knowing the entire landscape of a place by just looking at a map, and other stuff. We’re called Blesseds because we were supposedly blessed by the ‘gods’. We learn how to use our abilities and about math, history, maps, science, and more.”

I frowned. That didn’t sound real. In fact it sounded like an elaborate hoax he was trying to pull on me.

“That sounds nice,” I said, flatly. If he was trying to get a reaction out of me he wasn’t succeeding.

“I wish it was, but that place is not somewhere you want to go. I mean, it’s got great buildings and all, but…yeah, um, are people here from different worlds because I’ve never heard of Yerasht, and while I don’t have a head for maps, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t exist where I come from.”

Anyone who could complain about getting to go to an academy must have had a life so easy I envied them.

“Stunning observation,” I said, sarcastically. “If you’re one of those whatever you called it, what’s your ability?”

Why was I always the victim of pranks like this? Did I look that guillable?

I’M SORRY Aydin is running on half an hour of sleep and pure adrenaline he isn’t being very agreeable XD Khalon can absolutely be rude to him he’ll deserve it XD

I also love how he just instantly decides Khalon is making fun of him XD
