“Really? Tell me about the academy,” Aydin said wistfully. He hurriedly added, “I’m from the south of Yerasht and I’m one of the crown princes, can’t you tell?”

Khalon grinned uncertainly, unsure of the proper response.

“I’m actually-not doing anything right now,” he said shyly.

“That’s uh nice,” Khalon answered. He had never met someone who was so hard to talk to. “About the academy, well it’s only for Blesseds. Those are people who have enhanced abilities. Super speed, super strength, knowing the entire landscape of a place by just looking at a map, and other stuff. We’re called Blesseds because we were supposedly blessed by the ‘gods’. We learn how to use our abilities and about math, history, maps, science, and more.”

“Sounds nice,” Aydin sighed.

“I wish it was, but that place is not somewhere you want to go. I mean, it’s got great buildings and all, but…yeah, um, are people here from different worlds because I’ve never heard of Yerasht, and while I don’t have a head for maps, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t exist where I come from.”

Khalon mentally kicked himself. You really do have a death wish, don’t you. Someone asks about the Academy, and you go and spill everything. What the heck was the, “I wish it was but that place is not somewhere you want to go”? Yeesh, I spend ten minutes in this place, and I have already lost my sense of self preservation. Way to go me.

I’m glad that a new part of Aydin has been uncovered. The poor guy wants to go to school!

This character castle is doing wonders. (for example: I thought that Khalon’s internal dialogue was like his external dialogue; I did not know that he had dry, sarcastic thoughts flying through his head 24/7)
