I am also way too lazy right now to respond to anyone in any way whatsoever so y’all are awesome, this is awesome, I’m currently dying inside and that’s awesome too.
I’m tired.
Can you tell? XD
That’s an entire mood but I hope you feel better soon 🙂
GuYs NiArOk is AcTiNg WeiRDdddd
Sorry you know those days when your character is just like “aaannd now I’m going to have a weird mood swing and you’re not going to know what to do about it!”
Yeah.
Ooff, I know that. XD I actually didn’t notice anything weird about it.
rose-colored-fancy up to you how you want this to work. Obviously if Aydin silently pleads with Niarok to leave him alone, Niarok will…
I think Aydin would actually like the company. I feel like he’s actually an extrovert he just doesn’t feel safe around people in general.
Evie is 16 (youngest here so far so whoopee), but she has an extremely old soul. She’s suffered abuse and has PTSD, and she basically relies solely on survivalism. Y’all with nice characters are encouraged to try to break her ice lol. She’s 5’7 with mid-length light brown hair, brown eyes, and a dagger that comes with her everywhere. She’s also very good at self-defense and knows 101 different ways to find food while living on the streets. Okay that’s about all you get to know for now…
Yayyy another heavily traumatized character!! This will be awesome!
Nice characters what are those?I love her introduction this will be so much fun!
Aydin
I sank down to the floor, completely exhausted by everything that had happened. My gaze scanned the room, trying to assess what was happening.
Niarok and Yila had appeared in the opening of a tunnel. Yila’s eyes were hard and ice cold but she looked as though she’d just seen a ghost. I was going to dedicate as much of my energy as I could spare to avoid her.
I unconciously gripped the knife tighter.
Niarok looked furious, a kind of cold hatred I’d never seen or imagined in him. I only hoped he couldn’t see me. High tempers, no matter what it was about, often ended in lashing out and if I was the nearest or safest target that could very well be me.
His anger didn’t seem directed at anyone specifically, but he still held his bow in one hand as he slid the arrow back in the quiver.
Another pang of grief interrupted my thoughts. I would never draw a bow again. I’d been almost as good with the bow as with the sword.
Niarok’s posture softened as he glanced at Yila. She was obviously still upset but nothing would fix that.
Niarok’s gaze trailed over the room and finally fixed on me. I didn’t like that at all. Niarok was a kind person but even kind people had their breaking point.
He didn’t look angry, only tired. Who wasn’t? I was sick of all of this, I just wanted all of it to disappear.
He sat down, not too near me, and I shot him a wary look. What did he want of me?
He didn’t speak and I wasn’t about to so I tried to guess what he wanted. Of course, the knife. I was still holding it.
I slid it toward him over the floor.
“Your sister will want this,” I said, rather ironically. I couldn’t quite forget that she had tried to kill me with it. The entire situation was amusing in an extremely dark way.
“Thanks,” Niarok said, catching the knife.
I raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to leave. Did I want him to leave or not? People were danger but I was so tired of being alone. Was he going to bring up all the painful facts of my history or was he just going to be generally disappointed or was he going to be angry I had lied to him or–
My thoughts were running away with me again. Why wouldn’t he just say what he wanted? It was making me unreasonably nervous.
Niarok had settled in comfortably, not at all planning to get up, but he was still looking at me like he expected something. I tried to hide my discomfort but didn’t quite manage it. I was too tired to keep my emotions properly in check.
Did he think I was going to threaten him or Yila? I was still wearing my other knife. It was suitable for throwing. I wasn’t going to but did he think I was?
I wasn’t going to give him my knife. It was my only weapon and I wasn’t giving it up.
“I’m not going to harm anyone but I’m not giving you my other knife,” I said, quietly.
Niarok looked distantly amused.
“I wasn’t going to ask you to.”
Then could he just say what he did want?
“Your knife is on the wrong side,” he said.
He knew why but he wanted to give me the opportunity to tell him.
“Not everyone is right-handed,” I said, airily.
Niarok raised an eyebrow and shrugged. We both knew I wasn’t left-handed. He was just trying to be diplomatic about it.
I hesitated for another second, then decided that he already knew and it wasn’t going to make any difference.
“It was an… accident, a few months ago. Extensive nerve damage resulting in paralysis from the wrist downward,” I said, quietly.
My life motto might as well be ‘Accident, because attempted murder needs too many explanations.’
Leytara shot up and hurried out of the cavern, into a tunnel. Why? What was going on?
It wasn’t enough to make me get up because at this point I was tired enough that it would take an explosion for me to consider it.
And not less than half a minute later another girl appeared in the opening of another tunnel. She was holding a dagger tightly, frowning. Her gaze flitted over all of us, assessing, calculating. She seemed more afraid than agressive. She also looked like she could and would fight any of us if it came to that.
“What is this place?” she snapped, gaze flickering over all of us, trying to protect herself from all sides.
It felt like looking in a mirror and a sudden rush of empathy blinded me. I slowly got up. Her gaze was instantly fixed on me, calculating, judging. I stopped a good distance from her. She was looking at me as if she expected me to attack her. I didn’t look directly at her.
“I don’t know. We all ended up here. I’m Aydin,” I said. It felt uncomfortable staying in the middle of the room, with everyone looking at me, but at least all the attention wasn’t fixed on her anymore.
__________
Okayyyy, I did NOT expect that! I thought Aydin would tell Niarok to go talk to her but he changed his mind and went to talk to her instead. Huh, that was cool!
As usual, Denali, change anything! I don’t know how in character that was for Niarok, I just thought it made more sense for Aydin to reveal it to him first in private.
