Great! Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way So Lorcan’s age is a bit complicated, but basically he’s in his late teens/early 20s. If thats too old, I can always make him sightly younger, its no big deal
Oh, he’s fine!!! If he’s like 19, that’s perfect, because he can be two years older than Yila but also younger than Niarok so Niarok can give him some grief for flirting with his sister! 🙂 (but also grudgingly respect him for his general awesomeness)As they walked, he found himself eavesdropping on the conversation between the new boy and Acyn. It appeared that new boy had mocked Acyn’s arrogance. And Acyn decided to take offense. Lorcan rolled his eyes. Will children ever learn?
LOLLLLLL!!!!!! THIS IS SO GREAT!!!!!Side note: Do we want Lorcan and Niarok to develop a grudging friendship? Hmmm….
I have an idea – lets do theme songs for our characters. I’m a sucker for music, it helps me write and imagine! Pick a song of any genre that you feel speaks to your character the most. Maybe you heard it one day and it inspired you create that character. Or maybe you just thought ‘wow that song sounds exactly like this character’.
OOOOO THIS IS SUCH A GREAT IDEAAAA!!!!!! I’m gonna have to put some serious thought into this…Although I will say, the song Andrew’s Song by End of Silence is very Niarok. It would make sense if y’all knew his backstory, but you don’t, and it’s not my story to tell. *shoots meaningful glance at Niarok*
*dodges herbs flying at head*
Okay, sorry! I’m just saying, you really ought to tell them!
*runs away as Niarok draws his sword*
Okay, next…
OOhh!! I think she’ll actually pick up on the sparks between Lorcan and Yila! LOL, this will be hilarious!
LOL I’M DYING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!!!!!!LOL, I actually think it’s very fun! (Also, there’s nothing better than torturing your characters when life is annoying XD) LOL, I LOVE how he just assumed Acyn is arrogant XD Like… buddy, Acyn knows like three things and two of them are useless and he knows that XD (Actually, most characters immediately assume he’s arrogant XD) LOL, this will be hilarious!
Lol!!! That’s hilarious and I literally didn’t even catch that I was so into Niarok’s character!!!! He’s so annoyed right now, and then there’s just a kid who’s obviously younger than him trying to talk to him about something he clearly doesn’t know much about and Niarok was annoyed and life was annoying and TA-DAA!!! THIS IS GREATTTT!!!!!!!Yila
Yila balanced precariously between her brother and another skinny guy who looked to about the same age as her. Nothing about him sparked her imagination, and everything about the way he was talking about her like she wasn’t there made her want to run him through.
But then there was that guy – the assassin. Now he was sparking her imagination in ways that made her want to claw her face off. Maybe run her shoulder through. But then, she didn’t need to. It was already swollen to a disturbing size.
On the plus side, though, she was really starting to believe Niarok’s castle-healing-power-weirdness theory. Now she felt like she would have been able to walk if the two men between her would have realized that her feet weren’t touching the ground and that maybe they should be.
Whatever.
Yila looked down at the rocky cave floor. Her circumstances pressed down on her shoulders with a weight too great to bear. First her mother, then her father, now her…
Shut up. Not now.
“Niarok?” she whispered.
Niarok paused his conversation with the boy on the other side of her and looked at her questioningly.
To her relief, the usual fire still burned in his deep blue eyes. That was one success.
“Do you have my bow and arrows?”
Niarok nodded and nodded toward his shoulder.
Yila craned her neck and spotted an extra quiver of arrows next to Niarok’s own. She breathed a sigh of relief.
She knew she had her knives by the way that girl was drooling over her belt. She had the look of a fighter, if not also a maniac, about her.
“Do you have knives?” she asked over her shoulder, turning back forward so as not to slip off the guys’ shoulders.
Her eye caught on the assassin again, and try as she might to look away, she couldn’t. Ohhhh, he was handsome!
Though the assassin spoke quietly with the one-legged man and she could only see his profile, everything about him spoke of suppressed nobility. He walked with a confidence and a strength, but also with guilt. Like he did, in fact, have a conscience.
Yila was riveted.
Then he turned and looked at her, and his eyes seemed to catch on her for a second. She stared, spellbound, at his face. It was hard and battle-worn, and to an untrained eye completely passive. But she could see the struggle underneath. The struggle with his past. She had seen it in Niarok’s face.
But this time she felt completely helpless to do anything, so she didn’t even try. She just stared.
Then the man’s mask crumbled for a split second and he smirked at her. Then he winked. Yila’s face grew so hot she was sure she would catch the floor on fire, and she ducked her head.
But the pause in the moment allowed her to realize what the assassin and the one-legged man were talking about – the assassin’s past.
Yila’s heart ached for him and she wanted to help, but the assassin dodged the questions and kept the conversation going, turning it on the one-legged man. There was an audible sigh of disappointment from like five of the companions.
Yila felt it too. She wanted to know his past! But oh well. Maybe, if she earned his trust, he would confide in her. Her face grew warm again.
Stop it! You’re dying in a weird castle full of weird people. You will not fall in love with the local assassin!!!
But she couldn’t help it. So instead she turned back to Sahar, who had just spoken.
Okay guys, I’m bored. I’m just doing Niarok now…
Hold on…
