All i will say is Liorah sounds fascinating! I love the internal conflict she is struggling with. I would definitely love to read more about her in your WIP when it gets published

Aww, thank you! And “when it gets published” thanks for the vote of confidence XD I initially made up my mind that I wouldn’t be publishing but I’ve been rethinking it because I figured out that the only reason I wouldn’t publish was that I’m scared.

A. it isn’t marketable so it probably won’t be published traditionally (and getting a book deal is a big commitment I’m not ready for) and b. if I invest all that effort, money, and time into self-publication it’ll languish somewhere and get no readers XD Or I’ll be super embarrassed at it in a few years. XD

So, I’m doing some more research and praying about that one 😉 Anyway, I need to focus on actually writing the books first XD

Thats the dream isn’t it  I actually think anime adaptations are the best bet when it comes to adaptations. Live action always usually messes up the stories (except the hunger games)   Plus I always draw my characters in the anime style because it just feels right, so I can’t imagine it any other way lol. Though I know the anime style isn’t for everyone, so any 2D animation in general is waayy better than live action. You can do things with animation that you can’t achieve with live action. I heard the wingfeather saga is getting an animated adaptation. So if i had to pick, I would ask for animated adaptation of my series, preferably anime

That’s definitely true and so cool! Actually, even though I adore the Hunger Games books, I’ve never seen the movies. (I’m too squeamish, that’s not happening XD)

Honestly… If I had to pick… A live-action would be awesome if the casting was perfect and it’d need a pretty massive budget *glances at all the epic battle scenes* XD

You know what would be awesome?! A 2d animation in the old Disney style, especially how they did Atlantis. That would be the most epic thing!! *Briefly considers doing a clip myself then remembers I have the animation skills of an educated potato XD*

Its so cool when you realise things like that while you’re writing the story down. Its so rewarding once you learn more about your characters. Personally i find it hard to create internal conflict and struggles for my characters because i end up forgetting about them when i write the chapters. Its really annoying haha

OOh, yes! I always either have to write it down or think obsessively about it for about five minutes, then I usually remember XD And I have to reread and edit stuff a lot. When I read the earlier draft I’m like “No. Nope, these aren’t my characters, I don’t know these people.”

Yes you’d wonder – buut it won’t be a good story then if they’re happy out and joyful if you get me. Happy endings are so much more rewarding once your characters have overcome their truama and obstacles. I am planning a very happy ending for Lorcan and basically any character who isn’t already dead by the end.

YES! Anyone who says happy endings are bad will be smothered in puppies! I love a good bittersweet ending, but happy endings have their place and I love them!

And you know what’s especially fun about writing a series? You get to traumatize your characters, have them slowly recover, then traumatize them again, but worse!! Isn’t that brilliant!? XD

LOL, I’ve actually thought about having a weird amnesia kinda thing where Liorah briefly leaves the castle, then comes back, after the events of book 1, with no memories of the earlier events in the castle. *Evil writer laughter* The only issue, I couldn’t pull it off because it would spoil everything that happens in book 1. The drama though… XD

O my gosh ur right, I never actually realised that before. Lorcan has a very strong personality, I don’t think that was even deliberate. I just wanted to have fun with him.

I have the same thing with Liorah! She just kinda… appeared, exactly the way she is. I think my thought process was something like “How do I make a character that’s my exact opposite?” XD It’s weird that she’s so easy to write, actually, we’re not alike at all XD

He’s probably the way he is because he’s an unfavourable child of a great lord, so he was constantly pushed to prove himself and learn the arts of war and killing. So he feels the need to be stronger, faster, smarter and better than anyone in literally every way. Physically he’s the strongest character in the story. But he also doesn’t see himself as worthy, so he struggles to see himself in a good light. Where he comes from, if you have a physical impairment, you’re not worthy of leading and he has a particular impairment which I won’t reveal yet. So even though he’s the strongest man in his tribe, he can’t lead them.

OOh, that makes sense, that’s so cool!! I really like that backstory, it makes sense for him!

PS I just had a crazy idea. Someone should make a tiktok about this character castle XD it would be great fun I’d say bahaha

Man… It’s so long since I drew Liorah! I’ve drawn her unbelievably often but most of the drawings are outdated so kinda bad. And I’ve only drawn Ferran twice and both are bad (because they’re really old XD)

That makes me so happy hearing you say that!  Misu is probably one of my top favorite characters, if not my favorite (I think it’s a tie between him and the Shrike).  I love him for the same reasons.  He’s just so kind and gentle, and yet he holds so much power.  I think that’s why I love writing from his perspective.  Like I enjoy writing the Shrike’s perspective too, but it’s just so depressing.  There’s something really fun and calming about writing Misu

Yes, I love that about him too! Misu feels really calm and balanced, and he’s just fun to read!

It’s really funny, especially since Liorah has no problem picking fights with people like Lorcan lol.  Liorah is a super fun character!

LOL, yes! I can’t help loving her most, she makes all her stupid decisions with such certainty and enthusiasm XD (And lots of good intentions XD)

What I really loved about her interactions with Misu is that it showed me a side of Liorah you only get glimpses of in canon. She’s a believer, and confronting her with something spiritual directly makes for some interesting interactions since she kinda understands it, or at least knows how it works.

I’ve really enjoyed writing Misu’s interactions with her, and I also really liked reading what you wrote about her backstory.  I think it’s really interesting when there’s a direct correlation between a character’s experiences and their personality and the decisions they make, because that’s exactly how it works in the real world.

Thank you! It’s very hard to present that accurately here since I can’t really confront her with it directly. But I do my best XD

Also, I feel like I was kinda unfair to my poor Gav in that original post. XD It’s really not his fault, and he’s actually really sweet. Probably the nicest character in all the books, he’s just awesome and I love him <3

…. I was actually planning to pull her and Ferran out after the battle 🙁 BUT! I’ll be putting in Sahar and Acyn, who make up the three-man-best friend group of the series with Liorah. You’ll love them too, they’re fantastic! (I need to see Acyn and Misu interact!!)

I can’t leave them in with Liorah though, for safety reasons. XD The three share a brain cell and play rock-paper-scissors each time they need to use it. (I’m convinced Liorah cheats) Ferran is very tired of trying to keep them alive, and Gavril has given up entirely. XD

(I can’t describe how I’m looking forward to dropping them in. Actually, I might do that in one of the next posts, mid-battle. That’ll be hysterical XD I can practically hear Acyn whining already XD)
