@j-a-penrose Yes, I absolutely LOVE music! (Well, anything either Christian specifically, or classical.) Among my top faves are Rich Mullins, Chris Rice, Britt Nicole, Lindsey Stirling, and TobyMac. What do you like? I don’t play any music, unfortunately, but I do sing sometimes. (Or try to, and then have my little sister tell me how awful I am at it. Little sis is always right…right?)
Someday I’ll have to include this in an autobiography of some kind, but when I was at flag football practice one night, my dad and I were driving home after it had just ended, and we stopped at a red light in the left turn lane, heading toward the highway. On our right, the lanes next to us were cut off for a construction zone. Well, this guy in a ripped-up car suddenly zooms out across the intersection, through the construction zone, and runs the red light, throwing shrapnel everywhere. Just then, our light turned green. My dad swerved into a different lane to chase the guy. Something told both of us that we needed to do something. Well, we chased the dude through apartment complexes and gas stations, and watched as he almost ran people over in his attempt to escape. But we somehow kept up with him. Finally, he entered an alley behind a skating rink, where his car finally broke down. Dad pulled up behind it, and called the cops. While that was happening, this guy emerges from the alley, gripping the arm of a five-year-old girl, who was crying for her mommy. The guy shot daggers at me with his eyes, and then took the girl and ran off to a vacant building next door to hide. Then the cops arrived. They had K-9 units, squad cars, CPS vans, and even a chopper with a searchlight. They searched for awhile, and even asked me for a description of the guy they were looking for. Dad also filled out a report of the incident. Finally, the dude was found, and taken into custody. The girl was taken care of, too, and the police told me and my dad that the guy had kidnapped his daughter, whom he did not have custody of. The child’s mother would soon be informed of the whereabouts of her daughter, and the girl would be returned to her. Soon, everything was cleaned up and taken care of, and dad and I weren’t needed anymore. Later, though, we got to go to court as witnesses, but the case was resolved before they needed our testimony. The guy went to jail, and the girl and her mother were able to start healing. Me, I was glad I got to help. I even got inspiration to write my first novel two years later.
This isn’t my best writing, but I just wanted to tell the story. Someday I’ll write it again and do better.
