There were two people in the room — a man and a girl, both of them humans. Eliane held still for a moment, then let her fingers curl tighter around the hilt of her weapon.

She could hardly remember the last time she’d seen humans. It had been over a hundred years before, at least, but her senses were hardly dulled towards them.

And the last time she’d interacted with them at all, it hadn’t been good.

Eliane assumed a battle stance, and pulled her dagger arm back, displaying her blade to those before her. “Who are you?”
