“First guess?” the Castle’s voice had switched to feminine. Why? Did it think it would fool us into believing it was less dangerous?

“Oh good, this is where the fun comes in. Does the goose have invisibility? Mmm.”
Lights flickered dim and then flash brighter than usual, then dim again. I shielded my eyes from the bright flashes. My hands had gone cold with apprehension.
“Oh I forgot to tell you, guesses have consequences,” she drawled with a singsong voice “but don’t worry, your first three guesses are free. Now, is invisibility the correct answer, ladies and gentlemen? I say…wrong! But somebody is invisible here, can you find her?”

    The lights dimmed to darkness.
“Ok darling, you’re still invisible but I made it so people can feel you now so they have a fair chance. The real doosy here is catching the invisible person and not one of your friends in the dark. Have fun!”

“Forgot to tell us,” I mimicked, in an almost perfect imitation of the castle. The perky tones were an insult it would pay dearly for.

“You disgrace yourself, your family, and every camel you’ve ever touched,” I breathed in Kezbe, stringing together a few popular insults. “May you get what you deserve in full measure.”

I found the wall and rested my palm against it. As soon as I’d found it, I skittered back a few steps, silently, so I wouldn’t be where people expected me, in case anyone dared an attack.

Attack. It was dark. If someone happened to die, nobody would know who had done it. A cold shiver pulsed through my chest. It was my chance. I tipped my head back, and forced myself to take a deep breath, forced my heartbeat to slow, to even out. I closed my eyes and visualized where Þorunn would be.

I slipped the darkness over my shoulders like a cloak, the velvety comfort of invisibility as soft as velvet. I inched along the wall, my soft slippers barely brushing against the marble. The others were making plenty of noise, nobody would notice me. I only needed to get behind her.

I may not be as active here for a couple days so I can wrap up Character Castle 2.0 and do this whole post-graduation thing.

Okay! I can’t wait to see what will happen to Ehud and Rosy! That’s really worrying me XD
