Chantara
I slipped into the room. It looked much like the last one, only smaller and quieter, without the tables and the pawns. I was glad they were out of the way.
The goose was settled in the middle of the room, looking as smug as I’d ever seen an animal. I hesitated. How should I go about this? The first step was to get closer and try to interact with the goose so I could figure out its powers.
I walked toward it until it got up in alarm. I froze, then crouched. A faint memory resurfaced. My parents had chickens and other poultry, so perhaps the interaction would be the same. I would try to remember.
I spoke quietly, and in Kezbe so nobody could understand me.
“Hey, you know, I despise geese in general and you in particular,” I said, soothingly. The animal couldn’t understand me anyway, so I might as well speak my mind for once.
“I can’t think of the last time I wanted to kill something this much,” I crooned.
The goose cocked its head at me and stepped closer.
“That’s it, you feathery ball of distress and disaster. Come here so I can twist your neck so far that you can see your backside,” I coaxed, holding out my hand.
It came so near that I could almost touch its white feathers.
“You’d look so much better roasted,” I said, reaching out to touch it.
The beast hissed and bit my hand, grabbing hold of my fingers. A curse exploded out of me as I sprang to my feet. The miserable creature held on tight. With gritted teeth, I loosened its beak and kicked it away. It scattered backward with an indignant hiss and I glared at it.
With a start, I realized everyone had seen me. I had gotten so absorbed in the goose that I had almost forgotten about them. They had heard me curse in a way that would have made a sailor blush and had seen me kick that beast halfway across the room, let alone what would happen if someone had understood me. So much for delicate and ladylike. Heat surged to my face, not so much out of embarrassment as indignation. How could I be so stupid? I should have thought this through better.
Instantly, I slipped back into my vulnerable-and-weak act. I looked down at my bleeding fingers and managed to summon a whimper. It wasn’t too difficult. The thing had bitten terribly hard.

Honestly, the utter ridiculousness of this entire scenario is the best XD Dangerous assassin vs. goose. The odds are not in Chantara’s favor XD
